Boiler Noise: Banging, Whistling, and Humming

20 September 2026 | Leyton Boilers

Kettling often indicates limescale on the heat exchanger. Humming may relate to pumps running at incorrect speed. Banging can be expansion noise or air in the system.

Record when noises occur — during hot water, heating, or startup — to help diagnosis. Avoid ignoring new sounds after years of quiet operation.

Our Gas Safe engineers identify acoustic faults quickly during service or breakdown visits.
